Scotland Titles Privacy Policy
This website is operated by the Service Provider.
For “Service Provider” definition refer to Terms & Conditions.
The Service Provider (Scotland Titles, “we”, or “us”) takes your privacy seriously. Please read the following privacy policy, which covers in detail the information we collect from you, how we use it to improve your experience and how do we keep this information secure.
This Privacy Policy applies to the websites and subdomains that are managed by the Service Provider.
This policy does not apply to the practices of companies that we do not own or control, or to people that the Service Provider does not employ or manage.
There are many links within the pages of the websites we manage which will take you to other websites; please make sure you read the privacy policy of any other sites that may ask for personally identifiable information before you register with them.
1. What information do we collect?
We collect the minimum amount of personally identifiable information it possibly can in order to provide a great service to its customers. The data collected can be traced back to four scenarios:
i. Personal Account
When you register with Scotland Titles, we collect your first name, surname, address, telephone number and e-mail address. Other data held through your account also includes purchase history, plot information and revenue.
None of our customers’ data is made public, with the sole exception of an opt-in register of souvenir plots, where – at the request of our customers – we publish their chosen name and plot number in the results of the Scotland Titles Land Register.
You may also be given the option to access or register for an account through the use of third parties, such as your Facebook or Google account. By authorising us to connect with these third parties, you are authorising us to access and store your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address and other information that the third parties make available to us, and to use and disclose this data in accordance with this policy.
ii. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
This type of information is automatically collected when a user visits any of our sites through the use of cookies, beacons, tags, and scripts. The data retrieved includes IP address, browser type, pages requested, referring / exit pages and URLs, number of clicks, landing pages and other data of this nature. We do not link this automatically-collected data to personally identifiable information.
iii. Email
Apart from first name, last name, address, telephone number, e-mail address and purchase history, when we communicate with you via email, we also keep record of your interactions with the email, including whether you have opened it and what links have been clicked.
iv. Integrated Services
We like to reward you and your friends when you refer our product. To do so, we use a referral platform which we stores your email address along with the names and email addresses of any friend you have referred to Scotland Titles.
2. How do we use your information?
In short, we use your information to customise and improve your customer experience. We use the information collected in a variety of ways, including:
i. Enhance Experience
We use your data to provide you with products and services you have requested from us or have expressed an interest in, as well as carry out profiling and market research. This data is used to improve our offerings and help us to better understand and respect your preferences. Moreover, this data can also be used to administer any competitions or offers which you enter into.
ii. Communications
We use your data to be able to communicate with you any new products, reserve updates, community news and occasional offers. The use of personal data ensures that not only we can customise our messages but also tailor them to reflect your interests and preferences.
Iii. Analytics
We use Google Analytics to measure and track your journey through website(s). This is used to understand how visitors use our platforms and, ultimately, to help us deliver better a better experience, more relevant content and more customised communications.
Scotland Titles may also integrate Google Play with Google Analytics and so we can see app-specific information for Android App users. The information collected is anonymous and not personally identifiable.
Be aware that Google operates independently from us and has its own privacy policy, which we recommend you review here: http://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy/
Please note that your information will only be shared with organisations who help us deliver and improve the experience, such marketing organisations including, but not limited to, Mailchimp, Referral Candy, Attacat and Strut. We will not share your information for marketing purposes outside of those organisations.
3. How do we share your information?
We will not sell, share or hire out data to anyone; we are the sole owner of the information collected on this site.
We may send personally identifiable information about you to other companies or individuals when:
i. We need to share the information to provide a service you have requested
ii. We need to send the information to member companies who work on our behalf to provide a service to you (unless we tell you differently, these companies do not have the right to use the personally identifiable information we provide to them beyond what is necessary to assist us)
iii. In the unlikely event of having to respond to legal summonses, court order or other legal processes
4. How can you opt-out from commercial communications?
There are no pre-ticked boxes on our website and, where practicable, we operate a double opt-in process to ensure that we have properly obtained your consent to store and use the personal information we collect.
Our customers and users of our website are given the opportunity to opt out of having information sent to them at the time of registration. If you later wish to change this option, you may contact us to request that your name be taken off our contact list. We also include an opt-out or unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email we ever send you.
5. What are your rights regarding data?
As an individual, you have the right to: be informed about our use of your data; access your personal data; rectify your data if it is inaccurate or incomplete; request the deletion of your personal data; restrict processing of your personal data; obtain and reuse your personal data for your own purposes; and to object to processing of your personal data, including for direct marketing or research purposes.
In case you wish to exercise any of the above-mentioned rights, please contact us with your request.
6. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may amend this policy from time to time to take into account developments in the site and changes to information collected. If we make substantial changes in the way we use your personal information, we will notify you by posting an announcement on our pages.
Should you have any queries regarding the capture, storage and use of personal information by the Service Provider, please contact us with your question.
